VH1 Classic’s centerpiece in original programming, That Metal Show, returns this week welcoming back iconic front man and TMS alum Dee Snider to the acclaimed hard rock and heavy metal talk show. Dee sits down with hosts Eddie Trunk, Don Jamieson and Jim Florentine to talk about all things related to TWISTED SISTER and regales the crowd with stories from the band’s 30 plus year history. Dee discusses his uncompromising work ethic, his approach to opening shows for some of music’s biggest names, and secret to surviving life on the road at 58. Dee then shares his thoughts on his favorite LED ZEPPELIN albums in the “Rank” segment deeming Led Zeppelin II as his personal favorite. He also blazes through the “Put It On The Table” segment, answering rapid-fire questions from the hosts with some surprising answers. Episode nine of That Metal Show airs this Saturday, March 15th at 11:00PM ET/PT, which also happens to be Dee’s 59th birthday.
TRANS-SIBERIAN ORCHESTRA/SAVATAGE guitarist Chris Caffery drops by the show to take on the coveted guest musician job. Chris showcases his shredding skills as well as his ability to create a fine groove. At one point Chris gets the audience to clap along to a beat and shout “HEY” while Chris solos over the crowd provided rhythm. This creates one of the most memorable audience/musician interactions this season.
TMS alum Glenn Hughes checks in via the “Metal Modem” segment. Glenn talks about his new project with Jason Bonham called CALIFORNIA BREED, born out of the ashes of the now defunct BLACK COUNTRY COMMUNION. Glenn talks about the upcoming CALIFORNIA BREED album and tour, and explains this was the first time he ever recorded his vocals separately from his bass lines which was always done simultaneously in the past. The result is one of Glenn’s best sounding vocal efforts to date.
Episode nine also features the usual fan-favorite segments: The “TMS Top 5” tackles the Top 5 Scariest Songs in hard rock and heavy metal with BLACK SABBATH’s “Black Sabbath” taking the top distinction. This week’s “Throwdown” pits TWISTED SISTER’s debut Under The Blade against the follow up, You Can’t Stop Rock ‘N’ Roll with Dee coming out on the wrong side of the selection process as the audience makes it clear which album they prefer.
