Shadows Fall Shoot Video For "

Shadows Fall recently shot a video for their first single, “Thoughts Without Words,” which hails off their forthcoming album, The Art of Balance, due out through Century Media Records on September 17th.
In a large sound stage in Burbank, CA, just two days after wrapping up their US tour with Kittie and Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall proceeded to lens their first-ever video. Producing the shoot was veteran filmographer Darren Doane, who has done videos with such bands as Kyuss (“Thong Song,” “Apothecarries Weight”), Sick Of It All (“Potential for a Fall”), Scatterbrain (“That’s That”), Ill Nino (“God Save Us”), Snapcase (“Typecase Modulator”), Project 86 (“Pipedream”), among many others.
The shooting of the video was pretty basic… vocalist Brian Fair, guitarists Jonathan Donais and Matthew Bachand, bassist Paul Romanko and drummer Jason Bittner took a circular stance around the sound stage and rocked out, while cameras cruised around them. Although they really didn’t know what the end result concept would be, Romanko told me that he was into the bare-boned concept of something like Pantera’s “Cowboys From Hell” video.
The producer warned the band before the first take, that because the sound was coming off the soundboard and not through their amps, that they would find themselves ‘overcompensating’ their energy since they couldn’t hear their own feedback (or something like that!). Sure enough, after one take, they were pretty winded! They all agreed it was a lot different than being on stage. First of all, they had to “rock out” on command, and secondly, there isn’t that same adrenaline rush you get from being in front of an audience.
Nonetheless, the band seemed to be enjoying their very first video shoot! No word yet of when the video will be ready, and as to which outlets it will be available at (ie, MTV) because that will depend on the content of the finished product.
We’ll keep you informed as the details come in. In the meantime, check out the photo gallery below from the shoot.
