Type O Negative are apparently near completion of their next effort -- The Dream Is Dead is the current working title. An April release through Roadrunner is in the works.

Vocalist JS Clayden (Pitchshifter) and guitarist Billy Morrison (ex-The Cult touring bassist) have formed a new group called Doheny. They are in search of a bass player who can play “like a muthafucker,” and is between the ages of 20-30. Epitaph Records is set to release Punk-O-Rama DVD Voulme 1 on February 25th, and will include bonus and rare footage from Offspring, Rancid, NOFX, Pennywise, Bouncing Souls and Bad Religion, as well as 22 videos including such artists as Descendents, (International) Noise Conspiracy, Refused, Dropkick Murphys, and more, as well as interviews with Epitaph founder/ Bad Religion guitarist Brett Gurewitz, NOFX's Fat Mike and Fletcher from Pennywise.

The Supersuckers will release a new album, Motherf---ers Be Trippin', on April 22nd on their own Mid-Fi label.

Gary Glitter, who had been convicted on child pornography-related issues in the past, was deported from Cambodia after being detained for suspected sex offenses there, and has presumably fled to Thailand.

Therapy? have secured a North American deal with Spitfire Records. The band, who recently inked a new worldwide record deal with Eagle Rock Records (Spitfire being Eagle Rock's North American licensing partner), have commenced the recording sessions for their next studio album, tentatively due in early 2003.

Blabbermouth.net exclusively reveals that Unida bassist Scott Reeder (ex-Kyuss) recently auditioned for the empty slot in Metallica.

Anthrax drummer Charlie Benante confirms that their forthcoming album, We’ve Come For You All, has been pushed back two weeks to a release date of April 15th, 2003. The release schedule of February 4th in Japan and February 24th in Europe stands.

Rob Halford and Co. were denied entry into the United States to perform their New Years gigs, and have so far rescheduled the Anaheim, CA show for February 7th, 2003 at the House of Blues. The Las Vegas show will also be rescheduled.

Skid Row have split with long time manager Doc McGhee (KISS, Motley Crue) on good terms. Guitarist Scotti Hill explains, “…in the last few years we began to feel that Doc's vision and our vision of the band were very different things… There were no hard feelings and he has offered to help us out with anything we may need in the future. He is a class act and a true legend in the music business. I'm proud to call him a friend."

Nuclear Blast Records’ forthcoming Thin Lizzy tribute album, Emerald – A Tribute to the Wild One, is due out on January 20th, 2003, and will include such artists as Anthrax, Six Feet Under, John Norum, Pretty Maids and Primal Fear.

The annual ‘Bang Your head Festival’ in Balingen, Germany is scheduled to take place June 27th – 28th, 2003, and has so far booked the following artists: Annihilator, Overkill, Twisted Sister, Dokken and U.D.O.

Guitarist Paul Crook (Sebastian Bach, ex-Anthrax) has joined the touring band of Meatloaf.

Planet US -- featuring vocalist Sammy Hagar, bassist Michael Anthony (Van Halen), guitarist Neal Schon (Journey) and drummer Dean Castronovo (Journey, ex-Ozzy) – are in the process of recording their debut album, and hope to complete it by the end of January. We’ll keep you posted.

(hed)p.e.'s forthcoming album, Blackout, has now been pushed back to a March 18th release date through Jive.

Hard-core punk rockers Agnostic Front will line up a few US gigs in March with Hatebreed and Discipline, and will then begin writing and recording for a new album, to be released in 2004.

Blaze will be in Moscow, Russia on January 25th, 2003 at the Luzhniki Small Sport Hall.

Relapse Records ‘Contamination Festival’ will be January 18th and 19th at the Trocadero Theater in Philadelphia, PA. The line-up stands as follows:

Saturday, January 18th: Neurosis, Mastodon, Cephalic Carnage, Alabama Thunderpussy and Bongzilla.

Sunday, January 19th: Dillinger Escape Plan, High On Fire, Today Is The Day, Burnt By The Sun, Pig Destroyer and a Neurosis DVD screening.

Vocalist James Hetfield (Metallica) is set to appear on I’ve Always Been Crazy: A Tribute to Waylon Jennings, which is due out in April. Hetfield will perform the song, "Don't You Think This Outlaw Bit's Done Got Out of Hand."

Poison The Well have been confirmed to perform on the main stage of this years ‘Warped Tour.’

Zakk Wylde will be appearing on the local Chicago show, 3 Guys Pickin' on Monday, January 13th at 10:30 PM – that’s cable channel 19 in the Chicago city limits ONLY. Zakk and Craig Nunenmacher will be performing "Spoke In The Wheel" and clips of the BLS show in Chicago last September will be shown. There is also an edited version of "Mama I'm Comin' Home" unplugged by Zakk. Please note this is not a live performance...this has already been taped.

Lamb of God have completed the drum tracks for their upcoming album at Richmond VA's Montana studios with producer Devin Townsend (Strapping Young lad). Guitar, bass and vocals are currently tracking. Ten tracks are slated for inclusion on the as of yet, untitled release. The band, in association with Prosthetic Records, has estimated an April 2003 release window.

Stephen Pearcy recently lensed a video for "In Like Pink," which is off his latest album, Social Intercourse. A video release party is being scheduled for early March in Los Angeles.

Blind Guardian guitarist Marcus Siepen has posted the following message on their official web site: “We just finished our World Tour 2002 which you guys made the biggest and most successful tour in our history, thanks a lot! Next on the list [is] the upcoming festival-season in 2003, which is about to start in a couple of weeks, with a show in Barcelona and of course our new live-album. We’ll start working on this one in the middle of January, which means we’ll have to listen to tons of tapes to find out what recordings came out best… see you again next year.”

Crowbar has begun the songwriting process for the next studio album, which the hope to release by the end of the year. As Down may tour again in 2003, it may be a busy year for guitarist Kirk Windstein, who pulls double-duty in both bands.

Systematic -- which features in it’s ranks drummer Paul Bostpah (Slayer) – have begun mixing their second album, Pleasure to Burn with producer Howard Benson (Motorhead, Sepultura), and anticipate a late Spring release through Elektra.

Purple Records will release another live Deep Purple album. It will be called Perks & Tit and it was recorded live in San Diego, CA on April 9th, 1974 (3 days after the classic "California Jam"). The album will include: “Burn,” “Might Just Take Your Life,” “Lay Down, Stay Down,” “Mistreated,” “Smoke On The Water” and Jon Lord solo. The album is to be released February 2003.
