SaintBastard - 2/20/2003 6:02:39 PM LOL ok, now I know I'm not as crazy as I thought. I now know I'm not the only one who hears the 'warmth' of an album. LOL. Plus you can play em backwards and hear Ozzy say "what? Huh? ooh, where's me drink?"
DOGSBOLLOCKS - 2/20/2003 8:36:12 AM Good Luck with the record cleaner man...haven't seen any in ages....lots of my LP's need a cleaning and ...sadly, a number of them are a little bit trashed.... That was the ONE thing I always hated about vinyl.... it scratches like hell and if you're a little pissed or have a dodgy needle .....
the_looney - 2/19/2003 12:52:43 PM Dogs, that might be true I don't know. All I know is I like records better, but they are not as convenient, are hard to keep in good shape and most things are not released on vinyl anymore, although I will pick up Rush's Vapor Trails next time I see it. That's a great album and to get it on vinyl would be really cool.I still have all my albums I bought when I was young and I do still listen to them, just hard keeping them in good condition. I need some record cleaner and I haven't seen any in years. Maybe online, huh? I'll have to look for some. Anyway.......
DOGSBOLLOCKS - 2/19/2003 2:47:35 AM You might be onto something there Looney....apart from the great cover art on the LP sleeves... I seem to have read somewhere a while back that Vinyl produces a much wider range of frequencies when played and although they are outside our audible hearing range apparently the human body can sense or feel them...it was some study or other trying to establish why so many people were claiming that LPs were more satisfying to listen to......
the_looney - 2/18/2003 10:40:46 PM I actually think albums sound better. There really is a "warmth" to analog sound. Much more realistic. I spent an hour or so a while ago just remembering days gone by with Maiden's "Somewhere in Time". So much on that cover that will never translate to a CD. Anyway.......
SaintBastard - 2/18/2003 8:56:54 PM CDs are nice and all...but nothing will ever compare to holding that giant chunk of carboard album cover in your hand and admiring all the work it took to create it. In the B.C. years (before CDs) I used to buy my music on cassettes to listen to on the go and albums so I could spend hours just looking at the art work. Iron Maiden albums were the shit! Sure CDs are 'better' sounding, but there is something 'warm' about the sound of an old vinyl record. pop...hssss..pop....hstk...pop.
the_looney - 2/18/2003 3:24:43 PM Ah, the good ol' days of vinyl. I miss records and all the great cover art that came with them. I'm showing my age now. Cd's are just not the same. ANyway........
wicca_chick - 2/18/2003 11:49:20 AM No I'm not complaning DOGSB I was just saying they're used ones. Sometimes with the older used discs the sound is not as good. I can just trade those in get some new music & buy these remastered discs since AC/DC are one of my all time favorites.
VicRattlehead502 - 2/18/2003 10:07:06 AM Gimme the Bon Scott years... you keep the rest.
DOGSBOLLOCKS - 2/18/2003 9:42:30 AM Sorry....my mistake...we use the metric system here and I forgot to convert...... BLOODY HELL...! 32 inch LP's would be REALLY SOMETHING now wouldn't they heh heh heh!!!
LA_MERC - 2/18/2003 9:12:36 AM HOLY SHIT DOG!!!! Your records are 32" across??? Where the fuck did you get a turntable that big?!?!?! My albums are only 12". Guess I got vinyl envy....lol
DOGSBOLLOCKS - 2/18/2003 9:03:41 AM Hey...wicca-chick...you complainin about your CD's being 'USED'???? All of my AC/DC stuff is on vinyl(y'know...black, flat and about 32 inches across...) and sounds as though someone did a tap-dance with spiked running shoes on them......
MisterCrowley - 2/17/2003 10:32:49 PM Oh for crying out loud, ok I have had the records, casettes, cd's, & now I guess I can get the reissues.
SaintBastard - 2/17/2003 9:44:45 PM an I'm gonna cry-cry-cry all the way home...
Thunders - 2/17/2003 6:29:23 PM Bonfire(for some reason) is out of print in the states, but available as a import.I had heard it was gonna be included in these new remasters, but doesn't look to be the case.I'm glad there doing fly on the wall, blow up your video, and razors' edge, since thaey weren't done in 94.These albums should sound great! All 80's cd's need to be remastered, since they've been out 15-17 years. The Queensryche remasters should be a major improvement too.Bring em On!!
