Queensryche’s latest studio effort, Tribe, will be released on July 1st through Sanctuary.

Nevermore’s forthcoming album, Enemies of Reality, has been pushed back to a July 28th release date through Century Media.

Jane’ s Addiction will finally release their long-awaited studio album, Hypersonic, on July 15th, just shortly after the kick off of Lollapalooza. The album is being produced by Bob Ezrin (KISS, Alice Cooper, Pink Floyd), who also produced Jane’s Ritual De Lo Habitual in 1990.

Metallica’s forthcoming studio album, St. Anger, is set for release through Elektra on June 10th.

Blind Guardian’s live double-disc CD will simply be titled Live, and will be released on May 26th.

Shadows Fall are touring machines! They are currently in Europe with Soilwork and Children of Bodom until May 14th, then they will be at the New England Metal Fest on May 16th, onto a few gigs with Sworn Enemy and Nothingface into a 2-month run on Ozzfest in the US. Perris Records just reissued Pretty Boy Floyd’s Electric Boyz With Electric Toyz on April 18th. The album will include bonus tracks and new artwork.

2003 marks the 30th anniversary for Lynyrd Skynyrd. They will release their latest studio effort, Vicious Cycle, on May 20th through Sanctuary.

Apparently Slayer’s DVD, War at the Warfield, which was supposed to be released in February, will now be released on June 3rd through American.

The ‘Jailhouse Rock 2’ tour will include Hatebreed, Agnostic Front, Biohazard and Throwdown. Confirmed dates so far are as follows:

Soulfly were forced to cancel their shows in Sparks, NV (04/14) and Salt lake City (04/15) due to weather conditions. These dates will be rescheduled.

Aerosmith vocalist Steven Tyler will an honorary Doctor Of Music degree from the Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA on May 10th.

TheHighwayStar.com reports the following: “April 20, 2003 marks the 35th anniversary of Deep Purple's very first live appearance. At the Brøndby Pop Club in Copenhagen, Denmark Rod Evans, Ritchie Blackmore, Jon Lord, Nick Simper and Ian Paice took the stage as Roundabout. When they returned to the UK a few weeks later they changed the name to Deep Purple.

Circle-2-Circle -- featuring vocalist Zak Stevens (ex-Savatage) – are preparing to release Watching In Silence on April 28th through AFM Records. There will also be a Limited Edition double-CD package to include a bonus multi-media CD with interviews, the video for the single "Watching in Silence," pictures, screen saver, and much more. The European Summer Festivals begin with C2C appearing at the Rock Hard Magazine Anniversary Party in Dusseldorf, Germany on June 7th – 8th, and then back to Europe in late July/Aug to perform at the Wacken Open Air, Metal Dayz, Sziget Festival and a special club performance in the Netherlands. C2C will also be performing at the Prog-Metal Festival in Altanta, GA in early September. Look for C2C to hit the road in the fall 2003 for an extensive tour throughout Europe. Anthrax will headline the House of Blues in Hollywood on May 29th, 2003 after wrapping up their tour with Motorhead.

Cannibal Corpse will begin recording their next effort in September. Additionally, they are working on a box set for a fall release, which will contain 3 CD's, and 1 DVD including covers, rare recordings, and rare videos. More information to come soon.

King Diamond’s latest effort, The Puppet Master, is slated for release in late October, and will have a bonus DVD or CDR of King Diamond telling the story of The Puppet Master. As King describes it, this album is going to make the hairs stand up on the back of listeners neck. "The rules of censorship are being thrown out the window... this is going to be the rawest story/album we have ever done. If you are into horror, you're definitely going to get it with this album!"

In Flames have just finished shooting a new video for the track “Trigger.” It appears that the video was shot at the same time as Soilwork’s upcoming clip in a “battle of the bands” type live performance. Members of Soilwork can be seen in the In Flames video and vice versa. In addition, prior to departing for their US tour in support of Mudvayne, the band spent some time back in the studio recording a new song! The yet untitled track will appear on an EP also featuring “Trigger,” 2 cover songs and 2 remixes of “Cloud Connected.” The EP will be released on Nuclear Blast this summer.

The Crown plan on entering the studios on May 5th to begin recording their next effort, Possessed 13. A release date has yet to be determined.

Project: Failing Flesh, the new band comprised of Eric Forrest (E-Force/ex-Voivod), Kevin 131 and Tim Gutierrez posted song samples from their new CD, A Beautiful Sickness, at their official site: www.projectfailingflesh.com. Also, look for the debut of E-Force, the full-time band of Eric Forrest, on Season of Mist records later this year.

Kreator will release their double CD/DVD, Live Kreation (Revisioned Glory), on July 1st (US).

The third and possibly the last season of The Osbournes will begin airing on MTV on June 10th, and will include Sharon Osbourne’s colon cancer recovery.

Napalm Death and Earache Records kiss and make up, and begin to prepare a double-disc CD set that will contain tracks from Napalm’s 10-year career, as well as rarities, “lost” recordings and liner notes by bassist Shane Embury. A release date has yet to be secured.

Fu Manchu have inked June 2nd, 2003 (Europe) and July 22nd, 2003 (North America) to release their forthcoming album, Go For It… Live! through SPV records.

The release date of Gamma Ray's double live album, Skeletons In the Closet, has been put back from the end of May to August 25th.

Germany’s Skew Siskin have a new drummer in “Damien.” Vocalist Nina C. Alice says, “He's a real crazy bird and we feel that we made an excellent choice. Slayer have begun writing new material for their next album, which will feature drummer Dave Lombardo. Lombardo has also completed the percussion work on two different Fantomas records (which will be released at separate times).

Fates Warning drummer Mark Zonder will be unable to tour with the band during their dates with Dream Theater and Queensryche. A replacement has yet to be announced. However, the good news is that former Fates guitarist Frank Aresti will rejoin the band for the tour.

On Saturday, May 24th, The Scorpions will play a free concert at Neues Schloß in Stuttgart, Germany at the General Automobile Club’s 100th anniversary party.

California’s largest outdoor venue, Glen Helen Blockbuster Pavilion, (capacity 65,000) has officially changed it’s name to Hyundai Pavilion of Glen Helen. The Devore, CA venue typically hosts large festivals such as the annual Ozzfest.

This year, MTV will honor Metallica in their annual tribute show, MTVicon, which will air on May 6th. (Last year’s “icon” was Aerosmith.) Included on the show will be coverage of performers honoring the band, such as: Avril Lavigne, Korn, Limp Bizkit, and Sum 41, all of whom will perform live.

It seems as though MTV is readying to resurrect the classic metal show, Headbanger’s Ball, although this time it will be on MTV2, and hosted by Juliya of Much Music USA. More details as it becomes confirmed.

And the pink slips keep coming! First, Sony just laid off about 1,000 employees worldwide, which is approximately 10% of their staff. The cuts include staff at Epic and Columbia Records. And now BMG dumped about 350 Zomba employees, which makes up about 17% of their total staff. The 2002 acquisition of Zomba is cited as the reason parent company Bertelsman announced a 25% drop in net profits.
