Me and my fiancé got to the galaxy theatre around 7:45pm got a table and I prepared my self for a good night of Ratt n roll. My fiancé was never into the hair metal bands but she went with me just to see what it would be like.
The night started with two local bands. Last Dayz, who were okay, started about 8:15 and ended at 8:45. Next was a band named Krome, a very good band -- heavy sounding and a very energetic band. They started around 9:00 and ended around 9:50. Despite some sound problems, they were good.
Next up the band I was there to see: Ratt. Before I go on, I wasn't sure what to expect with Jizzy Pearl singing -- I haven’t heard it before so I was very curious.
The band hit the stage at 10:15 and started with chain reaction. At first they sounded a little off, especially Bobby Blotzer -- the drums sounded like he wasn’t on the same page as the whole band, but by the third song they were sounding just fine and in tune with each other.
Jizzy Pearl sings Ratt songs as well as Stephen Pearcy. In fact, he puts a little more energy into each song. Warren DiMartini is the man on guitar -- he was nothing but the best part about the whole show what a showman and guitar player. As for John Corabi, he looked to me to be bored and his latest hair cut looks like Nikki Sixx on guitar for
All in all, the show was awesome -- they kept it going one song to the
Next, and when they started Way Cool Jr., the Galaxy went nuts. The crowd was very much into the show. I have to say that when they did “Lay It Down” and “You’re In Love,” the place was jumping.
The set ended at about 11:45 that included an encore. The coolest part about the show was thinking that the last time I saw Ratt was at the Long Beach Arena on the ‘Dancing Undercover’ tour and now I’m seeing them in a theatre some 15 years later, and I would have to say I enjoy the theatre shows 100 times better.
All in all a great show and I can’t wait to see Ratt again. Here's the set list, as much as I can remember:
1. Chain Reaction
2. City To City
3. Wanted Man
4. I’m Insane
5. Way Cool Jr.
6. Nobody Rides For Free
7. Lovin’ You Is A Dirty Job
8. Lack Of Communication
9. Back For More
10. Body Talk
11. Lay It Down
12. You’re In Love
