For Immediate Release:
L.A. ROCKERS MY RUIN SIGN TO CENTURY MEDIA
Los Angeles-based rockers MY RUIN have signed an exclusive worldwide contract with Century Media. With Speak & Destroy, A Prayer Under Pressure Of Violent Anguish, and the limited release To Britain With Love And Bruises (Live) to their credit - in addition to a dedicated worldwide fanbase - their full-length Century Media debut album, The Horror Of Beauty (co-produced by Mick Murphy, Todd Osenbaugh, and Nick Raskulinecz of Foo Fighter, Marilyn Manson, and Danzig fame) is tentatively scheduled for an October release.
Following the break-up of Tura Satana (previously called Manhole) in late 1998, veteran vocalist/spoken word artist Tairrie B. concentrated on a solo career recording as MY RUIN. The idea to form a new band came after touring through Europe with future MY RUIN bassist Meghan Mattox. The pair eventually met up with songwriter/guitarist Mick Murphy, and the hard-hitting drummer Yael was soon recruited into the fold, cementing an entirely new musical vision. Since their inception, MY RUIN have headlined tours in Europe, toured with Kittie in the U.S., and were voted "Best Hard Rock/Metal Band" by readers in the L.A. Weekly Awards in June 2002.
"We received an overwhelming amount of e-mails from our fans telling us to sign to Century Media, so we decided to pursue it. They understand that this is a whole new band. Yes, I put the band together. Yes, I'm the frontwoman, but without [guitarist] Mick Murphy, there is no MY RUIN," states Tairrie B., who has received praise from Revolver Magazine for her "stunning, cement-mixer voice." "I also love the fact that they have woman-fronted bands on their roster and a lot of women working important jobs for the label."
The Shape Of Things To Come four-song EP will be released on Century Media this summer and will feature album art by Chad Michael Ward (Soilwork, Naglfar, In Thy Dreams). The track listing will include "Made To Measure," "Grotesque," "Unmanageable," and a cover of The Plasmatics' "Sex Junkie."
Members of MY RUIN will be hosting an online chat on Sunday, June 1st beginning at 1 p.m. Pacific/3 p.m. Central/4 p.m. Eastern. Visit the band's official website at www.myruin.com to participate.
