Rumors have been a-flyin’ today that The Black Crowes have broken up. Well, while that’s not totally true, it has been confirmed that the band is taking an indefinate break from each other. A publicist for MSO confirmed today that the soulful rockers are taking a hiatus from each other in the wake of the departure of longtime drummer Steve Gorman. Gorman left for “personal reasons.” Frontman Chris Robinson has announced he will pursue a solo career, while brother/guitarist Rich has yet to announce any new plans. Though no specific reason was given for the split, it is assumed that numerous personnel changes in the last several years and lackluster record sales are at the core of the problem.
Damn, another one of the last real rock n’ roll bands sits it out on the sidelines….
In related news, Crowes guitarist Audley Freed appears on the new Supersuckers live country album Musta Been Live, due out in March through the band's own Mid-Fi Records. So the rock carries on...
