This was one concert I was so looking forward to…
Mudvayne kicked off the show, playing songs from the new and old CD. Either you’re a fan of their music or your not. There were a few pits going for them, but there set came and went.
Which set the stage for the Deftones. They got the crowd going with pretty much all their well-known songs from their 3 CDs. Not much of a fan of theirs, but “Minerva” and “Bored” got good responses.
After about a 30 minute break, Linkin Park busted out on to the stage and gave us one hour of what they do best -- blasting through hits from Meteora and Hybrid Theory. There was even a stoppage for about 15 minutes as a fan in the front row needed medical attention and they didn't start until they were cleared out.
Then the group I was dreading to hear for 90 came on with Fred Durst cutting up Britney Spears, plus doing awesome version of Metallica's “Sanitarium.” Limp Bizkit put on one awesome show from fireworks and explosions... Fred even ran out to the back of the floors section and sang some song that I couldn't remember. But he went through all the hard music in their set... “Nookie,” “Faith” and hits from Chocolate Starfish. When all was said and done, I look over to my buddy and said, "They kicked some serious ass."
Then about 10pm... The GODS themselves came flying on to the stage with “Battery” and then “Master of Puppets”… playing classic after classic. Even to boat through in “St. Anger,” which actually sounded pretty good live, “Seek and Destroy,” “Blackened,” “Nothing Else Matters” and “Fuel.” It was like a religious experience.
Overall the Summer Sanitarium Tour was worth the ticket price all the bands worked their asses off. The 45,000 + didn't want to leave. Long Live Metallica!
