Canadian heavy metal rockers Helix will license tracks from their upcoming CD release Rockin' In My Outer Space for new season episodes of Alliance-Atlantis hit comedy TV series Trailer Park Boys. Trailer creator/director Mike Clattenburg will also feature Helix lead singer Brian Vollmer in a separately filmed promo segment to be added onto the next Trailer Park Boys DVD release. Gearing up for their 2004 Helix: 30th Anniversary celebrations, Helix played a special concert Thursday October 9th at the Hard Rock Cafe in Toronto, showcasing their classic heavy metal music from the 1970's and beyond.
American drum manufacturer, Drum Workshop, will bring together some of America's most talented drummers for Drum Day 2003, a celebration of drumming. The line-up includes performances by Brain with Giant Robot, international drumming sensation Marco Minnemann, up-and-coming R&B/Funk specialist Tony Royster, Jr., along with an old school punk tribute by D.H. Peligro (Dead Kennedys), Charlie Quintana (Social Distortion) and Andy Granelli (The Distillers). Hosted by Los Angeles drumming favorites John “Vatos” Hernandez (Oingo Boingo) and Zoro (Bobby Brown, Lenny Kravitz), proceeds from the show will benefit the International House of Blues Foundation, an organization that strives to promote cultural understanding and creativity through music and art. Admission tickets for Drum Day 2003 (Saturday, October 25, 2003 at the House of Blues located at 1530 S. Disneyland Dr. in Anaheim) are available for purchase for $25 at the House Of Blues box office, TicketMaster and participating Southern California DW dealers. Posted on the official site of Suicidal Tendencies: Mötley Crüe singer Vince Neil is again hosting the Skylar Neil Memorial Golf Tournament, however this year it moves from Malibu, California to Las Vegas, Nevada. "You are not going to want to miss a minute of this," Neil, a Las Vegas resident, told the Las Vegas Sun. In 1995 Neil lost his daughter, Skylar, to stomach cancer. Since then, he said, "I have endeavored to do everything I can to help raise awareness and much-needed funding for children's illnesses." Funds raised at the various events go primarily toward the Lili Claire Foundation and the T.J. Martell Fund. Billboard.com reports that KISS and Aerosmith are preparing separate arena tours for next year. The bands have extended their successful co-headlining tour into late December. The trek is now slated to end on December 20th in Fresno, California. Several major markets will be revisited, including Boston, Detroit, New York and Los Angeles. The joint headlining tour has played to 85% capacity and grossed more than $31.5 million, according to figures for 24 shows submitted to Billboard Box Score. Blabbermouth.net is reporting that Morbid Angel will join the upcoming Superjoint Ritual North American tour as main support beginning on November 3rd in State College, Pennsylvania. Devildriver, the new band fronted by former Coal Chamber singer Dez Fafara, are expected to fill the opening slot on the entire trek, which is slated to kick off on October 16th in Columbus, Ohio. There is no word yet on who will occupy the middle slot on the tour prior to November 3rd. Sepultura, who were previously announced as the main-support act on the tour, have now officially pulled off the trek. No reason was given for their cancellation. Kerrang! is reporting that Napster, the infamous file-sharing service, will relaunched after two years of inactivity on October 29th. Now, Napster users will not be able to download for music for free, but get new music for a nominal fee, like iTunes, BuyMusic, eMusic and MusicNet. For a $9.95 (£6) monthly fee, computer users can stream and download an unlimited amount of songs and gain access to 40 online radio stations, message boards and other people's music collections, among other features. A party to celebrate the launch of Napster 2.0 is scheduled for October 29th at the House of Blues in Los Angeles. Dashboard Confessional and Interpol are expected to perform.

During Olympic’s decade of existence, the label has released such marquee acts as Immolation, Behemoth and Vital Remains, as well as current up-and-comers Diabolic, Divine Empire, Fleshgrind and Unholy Ghost. They were also responsible for launching the career of Soil. Mushroomhead’s latest effort, XIII is slated for release on October 14th through Republic/Universal. The album will contain a guest appearance by Meshuggah vocalist Jens Kidman. Linkin Park have been cleared to perform in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on October 15th, but they have a few strict rules to adhere to, as per the country’s Ministry of Culture, Arts and Tourism: 1.) Male artists must cover their bodies from the chest to the knees, 2.) The artist is strictly forbidden from displaying rough, raunchy actions which conflict with pure values, such as leaping around, screaming or throwing something from the stage to the audience, 3.) Artists are forbidden from making sexually provocative gestures or speech, including dance moves, kissing the crowd or similar acts among themselves, and 4.) Artists are prohibited from wearing clothes or body accessories considered obscene, linked to drugs or other negative elements. Metal-Sludge.com got an email from drummer Frankie Banali which stated "To be honest with you, I am Kevin's friend and will always be his friend. I don't want to get on the "he said" "you said" roller coaster that is always generated in these types of situations which are all so common with bands. It's pointless, it serves no one. The fact remains that the Quiet Riot which included all original Metal Health era members Kevin DuBrow, Rudy Sarzo, Carlos Cavazo and myself has ceased to exist. This lineup was the most successful one during the early 80's and during the latter part of the 90's to date and we had a great and lengthy run.". The club that band was supposed to play in Nile MI was reported to have said in a statement "The Quiet Riot show has been canceled. Believe it or not they flew into Flint to play and the singer did not show up and they broke up and flew back to LA. Canceling 25 shows. This is not a joke." Stay tuned for more details. The DVD will feature all the key promo videos, the 1986 Dallas concert (which was the Priest...Live! recording during the Fuel for Life tour) and 7 rare BBC performances, plus a booklet with detailed notes and photos. Release date is Nov. 17, 2003. The "Blackest of the Black" tour featuring Danzig , Super Joint Ritual, Morbid Angel, Behemoth and Devildriver has postponed its US leg of the tour due to the sudden and unexpected departure of booking agent Jamie Adler from the Agency Group. The US Tour for fell into a shambles and unfortunately could not be put back together in time to be salvaged. It will be not be stopped, it will be rescheduled. . The Associated Press has stated that the judge in Chicago has dismissed a $2 million lawsuit filed by four fans against Creed. The suit accused singer Scott Stapp of appearing too intoxicated to perform well in Chicago last December. One of the fans that brought the suit and thier attorney stated this is not the end of the ordeal. Kerrang! is reporting Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale is to appear in Constantine, the big screen adaptation of the DC-Vertigo comic book Hellblazer. Rossdale plays Balthazar in the film, which also stars Keanu Reeves in the lead role of John Constantine, who uses the occult to battle evil forces. According to the Internet Movie Database, former KISS guitarist Ace Frehley will be in the upcoming movie Remedy as an actor and as the music composer. The film was written by Nicholas Reiner and directed by Christian Maelen. It's tentatively due in 2004. No further information is available at this time. Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst seems to have a new victim to stalk - Halle Berry. He confessed to MTV.com that he has a "special friend" that he has a bond with "like I've never bonded with anyone". Meanwhile, Berry's rep has said that Berry is still happily married to her husband Eric Benet. Anthrax have announced more dates as part of the fall leg of their We've Come For You All North American tour. BW&BK's website is stating that according to drummer Craig Nielsen, the forthcoming Flotsam and Jetsam live DVD is mixed and ready to be sent to the label (Cleopatra) which will happen this week. It sounds fucking great. And we leave tomorrow (Sunday) for California to film and track the Metallica tribute DVD on Cleopatra. We were originally scheduled to do it in July, but opted to do it now so we could give it the proper Flots treatment."
