||Alice Cooper Live at the Turni|
Alice Cooper returned to Verona, NY for the 4th year in a row during his "Bare Bones" Tour. This tour had less emphasis on theatrics -- there was no blood and had no execution in the end. (However the boa returned after a several year hiatus, and "Britney" and "Madonna" also made an appearance.) Although was a slightly stripped down show from the usual Alice Cooper performance, Alice was on top of his game and the band was tight and musically better than ever. Alice's power and energy were off the charts, more so than most frontmen I have seen who are half his age.
One of the things I enjoy most about seeing Alice Cooper live is the setlist. The setlist included the necessary staples, plus songs from the latest release, but he does always manage to pull out something unexpected every tour. This time he opened with "Hello Hooray." Also included were "Long Way To Go" and "Be My Lover" (one of my faves that I never heard live before). They also played a killer rendition of "Halo of Flies" with an extended instrumental jam which allowed the band to shine, including drum solo by Eric Singer (Kiss would never let him let loose like this).
Alice Cooper is still one of the best live performers in the business. In fact he may be better now than when he was in his "prime.” (Not to dis the mighty Ozzy Osbourne, but he could learn a few things from Alice). It is a travesty that Alice Cooper still hasn't been considered for the Rock N' Roll Hall o Fame.
