Famous Friends Pile on for Auf Der Maur Debut
NEW YORK (Billboard) - Melissa Auf Der Maur's long-in-the-works solo debut will finally be out in late spring via Capitol, according to a spokesperson. The as-yet-untitled set will be supported with a tour, with details yet to be pinned down.
The former Smashing Pumpkins/Hole bassist has gotten a hand from some notable names, including Queens Of The Stone Age principals Josh Homme and Nick Oliveri, former Screaming Trees frontman Mark Lanegan, Fu Manchu's Brant Bjork, Hole's Eric Erlandson, ex-Pumpkins bandmate James Iha and Zwan/A Perfect Circle's Paz Lenchantin.
Others who have contributed to the set in one form or another are Tinker guitarist Steve Durand, Masters Of Reality principal Chris Goss, Marilyn Manson/A Perfect Circle's Twiggy Ramirez, Helmet/Tomahawk drummer John Stanier, Failure drummer Kelli Scott, Rocket From The Crypt drummer Atom Willard and Blinker The Star principal Jordan Zadorozny.
Last year, Auf Der Maur fronted the band Hand Of Doom for a series of shows that focused on covers of Black Sabbath songs. The group issued an eight-song live set, "Live in Los Angeles," via Idaho Recordings.
Auf Der Mar can also be heard on Ryan Adams' new Lost Highway album, "lloRnckoR."
