Joey Belladonna Live in Manchester, NH By Tokemaster General, Contributor Thursday, March 25, 2004 @ 1:24 PM
Being a long time Anthrax fan (pushing 20 years), when I heard Joey Belladonna was coming to a small club called the Bombshelter in Manchester N.H., I knew I had to go. Called my usual Anthrax friend and we made the trip.
During the usual three hardcore band warm-up, we had the chance to hang with Joey and talk about everything from the old 'Thrax days to what’s goin’ on now. He was more than cool to my friends and I. He even used my cell phone to "Hi" to my wife would couldn't make the trip. During the conversation, we learned that Joey would pulling a double duty, playing drums and lead vocals.
Midnight rolled in and it was time for Joey to what he does so well. Remember… this guy was voted best metal singer two years in row back in the early '90s.
The show opened with a great version of “Madhouse,” then into one off his new CD '03. It sounded pretty good. He then did a couple of great Sabbath tunes, a lot of great old Anthrax stuff and maybe like one other of his new ones. Keep in mind that he just wailing away on the drums at the same time he was hitting those high notes just as good as he did back in '88. Joey gave us fans all that we wanted playing until 2 a.m.
Basically this show rocked and my respect of Belladonna has just been increased ten fold. Go see him if you like great metal singers!!
Here's the set list (best I remember):
Madhouse
