Black metal bands are usually not so popular in North America; however, Mexico is full of black metal maniacs everywhere. Dimmu Borgir is one of the best black metal bands ever, and Mexican fans know that.

This was the third time they perform here in Mexico, and it was just as great as the others. The Circo Volador is a medium-sized venue located in the north of Mexico City... the place were totally crowded, around 3000 people attended the Dimmu Borgir show.

At 8:00 pm. started the opening show of a local band. No one really got involved with them, as they were waiting for the Norwegian black gods. The opening band played for half an hour, with no encore. The place was full of cigarette smoke and at 9:30 the lights off announced the coming of Dimmu Borgir on stage. With a dark intro and strange satanic noises and invocations, suddenly a fog covered the stage and from inside the fog Shagrath's figure appeared just in the front. The crowd went crazy as the opening song started, "Spellbond (By the Devil)". These guys are amazing, the music is full of power and real heavy. After that with no talking, Dimmu Borgir played another classic: “In Death's Embrace,” which was just perfect. The band were playing and giving all they had.

After that came a couple of new songs, like "Progenies of the Great Apocalypse," "For the World to Dictate Our Dead" and "Satan My Master." The audience was so hungry of black metal so they were totally insane doing slam dancing. At the middle of the show, Dimmu Borgir stop their performance for a few minutes, because part of the audience had an accident and one boy got really hurt in the head. Apparently, the guy climbed the stage and fell down, so he was bleeding too much. The medical assistance had to cure him. After 15 minutes, Dimmu Borgir came back to the stage and Shagrath said, "The show must go on...” and so it was. They hit the audience with some classics such as "Succubus in Rapture," "Perfection or Vanity," "United in Unhallowed Ground" and "Tormentor of Christian Souls."

At the end they had a huge encore, with just one song, but WOOOW!!! What song: "Mourning Palace." They played this song just like I had never heard it. Mustis played the keyboards, just like Satan himself. After the show, all the audience were totally satisfied and we had a Black Metal night to remember.
