Kittie has been forced to cancel the remaining dates of its current tour due to the hospitalization of drummer Mercedes Lander. Lander, who was hospitalized in Cleveland Wednesday due to severe dehydration and exhaustion, has returned home to Canada and has been re-admitted to the hospital. The band had originally intended to continue the tour when Lander was released from the hospital yesterday, but a decision was made late last night to return to Canada to allow the drummer to fully recover. This just in! From Nightwish via their official website: "Unfortunately the shows in Toronto, Montreal and Philadelphia had to be cancelled due to visa problems. Our US Visa applications were filed early enough at the end of March 2004, so the U.S. Immigration Office is the one responsible for not being able to handle these applications within this 4, 5 months of time. There was never anything we could have done but wish for some co-operation from their side. The result is as seen. We are very sorry for this and we understand that many of you are pissed. So are we. Big time. Naturally we will do everything we can to make this up and as soon as possible. The rest of the US shows will happen as scheduled. Wishing you all the best,” Tuomas Holopainen & Nightwish.

Audioslave are currently in the studio with mega-producer Rick Rubin, and are about half-way finished recording the 22 songs they have written for their sophomore album. No word yet on the scheduled release date of that, so stay tuned for more details.

The band will head back to Cloud City Studios in Detroit, MI in October to start recording their debut full-length release that will be out on Metal Blade Records in the winter of 2005.
