On the Road with the Ramones was released in late 2003 to rave reviews and has sold over 10,000 copies, making it a best seller for Sanctuary Books. Melnick, Meyer, Ramone and Vega will be signing copies of the book (available at Tower, among other outlets) along with any albums, postcards, etc., so bring copies of your Ramones, Streetwalkin' Cheetahs or Sweet Justice records and CDs!
The event is part of a weekend of Ramones activity in Los Angeles, including the Sept. 10 opening of the documentary End of the Century at the Nuart in West L.A., and the 30th Anniversary Party and Memorabilia Exhibition at the Avalon on Sept. 12, which features performances by CJ Ramone, Marky Ramone, The Dickies, Flea, Eddie Vedder, John Frusciante, Steve Jones, Tim Armstrong, Henry Rollins, Pete Yorn, Daniel Rey, Billy Zoom, Robert Carmine, Brett Gurewitz, Mark Hoppus, Dicky Barrett and special guests. The event is hosted by Rob Zombie and is sold out.
All proceeds from the concert will go to the Lymphoma Research Foundation and the Cedars-Sinai Prostate Cancer Research Center.
In related news, Meyer, a KNAC.COM Associate Editor, recently landed a job as a Content Producer at Comcast’s G4TV, a cable TV network for video game lovers. G4TV recently acquired Tech TV and the two networks are merging their programming, as well as their Web content. Frank was brought on to create original Web content for various G4TV shows, including the talk show G4TV.com, the sports show Sweat, Robot Wars and more. Frank formerly worked at AVN magazine and POPsmear magazine, and is the former singer/guitarist The Streetwalkin’ Cheetahs, who released eight albums and appeared on 55 more. He currently resides in Sweet Justice, whose debut CD was recently released by Real O Mind Records.
