Ted Nugent for Governor? By Newsferatu, Writer Sunday, October 2, 2005 @ 10:24 AM
Is Ted Nugent planning to hang up his guitar and get into politics? It looks like that's a good possibility, according to the New York Times. Nugent told the paper that he was "99 percent ready" to run for governor of his home state of Michigan next year, but he's decided to hold off until the 2010 election. He said, "Even though Michigan needs me desperately — the pimps and the whores and the welfare brats need to be introduced to my crowbar — I think I would be better fortified and my family would be better fortified for the campaign, if I decided to do so, five years from now." Nugento claimed that he consulted with and had the support of current and former Republican governors including John Engler of Michigan, George Pataki of New York, Mike Huckabee of Arkansas, and Rick Perry of Texas.
Nugent's own brother Jeff, for one, doesn't see Ted winning any contests anytime soon. He said, "I think it would be impossible for him to be elected with the views he's articulated. If he was capable of drawing back in 20 or 30 degrees from where he is, he could still be true to his beliefs but not be so outrageous." Jeff also said that he's given up on asking Ted to tone things down a bit: "I gave up doing that a long time ago. That is who he is and you can't change the stripes on a tiger."
Ted Nugent recently shot a new reality show called "Wanted: Ted Or Alive" that will air on the Outdoor Life Network early next year.
