Manowar have set Warriors Of The World as the title of their latest studio effort, which is scheduled to be released in Europe on May 27th via Nuclear Blast Records. The album will be preceded on April 15th by the single "Warriors of the World United." The album was mixed at Galaxy Studios in Belgium, where the band held a press conference to discuss it on February 9th.
In addition to all the pummeling metal tracked for the effort, the band recorded a cover version of "Nessun Dorma," the famous opera piece (tenor aria) from Puccini's Turandot. “It is, as a song, the most widely recognized piece of opera music,” says bassist Joey DeMaio. “A lot of people recorded it, and when we headlined the Gods of Metal festival in 1999, which was our second time, we wanted to do something special for the Italian fans, and why not do something completely radical, which opera would be, and also do a piece which is certainly recognized.”
The band announced they will launch an extensive world tour, their first in over three years, to promote Warriors Of The World. In addition, they confirmed that a slew of DVDs are on the way and a book is being penned about the history of the loincloth clad metal titans.
“[Although] we've been off the road the last two years, we certainly haven't been sitting on our ass,” DeMaio says. “We put together four different DVDs: Blood In Brazil, which is going to be our first full-length 5.1 [Dolby sound] concert ever released, and Hell On Earth Parts 1,2 and 3. And also the history of Manowar is on its way—there is a book being written about the band, there is a host of things are going to happen over the next couple of years and I can tell you, we're not going to stop touring, we're not going to stop playing, and I have going to keep my promise, there is going to be another studio album out, next year.”
You can catch the mighty ones when they headline Metal Meltdown 4 on April 5th and 6th at Convention Hall in Asbury Park, N.J.
