Jane’s Addiction are in the planning stages of recording the long-awaited reunion studio album, the follow-up to 1990's Ritual de lo Habitual. Drummer Stephen Perkins recently revealed during a Web chat that he, frontman Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and new bassist Martyn LeNoble are planning to enter in the studio next month.
"We love playing together, and we play great shows," Navarro told Rolling Stone, "but if we're ever going to do that again we know that we need some new material. I don't think we want to stop playing, but we do want to stop playing the same repertoire."
"David, Perry and I have come to the point now where communication and the friendships are there, and the next step would be getting together to write new songs. I've got a trip planned throughout February, and when that concludes, we're gonna get together with Martyn and have some fun in the studio."
Kettle Whistle was released in 1997 to celebrate the band’s return to the road, but was a collection on rare material, live cuts, demos, and only featured a couple new recordings.
