Within its 60-year old bones, the Whisky a Go Go music venue has been a place where many bands got their start and it continues to be that special stage where venerated acts return. This has certainly been the case for hard rock legend Lita Ford who, since the mid-70s, has played at The Whisky too many times to count.

THE RUNAWAYS alumna, alongside bandmates Patrick Kennison (guitar), Marten Andersson (bass), and Bobby Rock (drums) performed to a packed house, starting the show with "Gotta Let Go", a hit from her 1984 Dancin' On The Edge album.

Ford, flanked by her bandmates Kennison and Andersson, was wearing an ear-to ear-smile.

After a few songs guitarist Gary Hoey got onstage and performed with the band, adding his multi-faceted style of playing and signature sound.

Noticeably, the crowd was into it, and it was fun to watch the volley between three guitarists and a bassist, each getting center stage moments. Andersson is one of those bassists who doesn't take a statue-like stance by the drum riser; he was right up front, rolling out percussive bass lines and singing background vocals. Rock, Andersson's hard-hitting rhythm counterpart, is a phenomenal drummer, as he demonstrated throughout the night.

Loud applause doesn't lie. "Playin' With Fire", one of Ford's most personal and deeply relatable songs was a testimony of how warmly her hometown crowd embraced her.

More fan favorites followed, including RUNAWAYS hits "Cherry Bomb" and "Black Leather", where Hoey returned to the stage.

Then came time for "Close My Eyes Forever", the 1988 smash hit which Ozzy Osbourne co-wrote and subsequently sang and recorded with Ford. Kennison sang the duet with Ford and the crowd went wild. The familiar, upbeat radio rocker and last song of the set, "Kiss Me Deadly", sealed the deal nicely.
