Spinal Tap Reunites To Fight Global Warming By Newsferatu, Writer Wednesday, April 25, 2007 @ 9:23 AM
Spinal Tap will be turning the volume up to eleven to save the Earth. Yes, Spinal Tap is reuniting for one of the Live Earth concerts July Seventh at Wembley Stadium in London. The original members will be there: guitarist Nigel Tufnel, played by Christopher Guest, singer David St. Hubbins, played by Michael McKean and bassist Derek Smalls, played by Harry Shearer. And Rob Reiner will be with them. He directed "This is Spinal Tap" in 1984. And he played the fake documentary filmmaker, Marty DeBergi, in the film.
Reiner has created a new 15-minute film about Spinal Tap's reunion. It plays tonight at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York. The film explains what the band has been doing lately. Nigel has been raising miniature horses to race, but can't find jockeys small enough to ride them. David is now a hip-hop producer who also runs a colonic clinic. And Derek is in rehab for addiction to the Internet.
