At the "River Roar" on the ban

Hello, here's my concert review of the Poison show that I won tickets (from KNAC.COM) to for the Friday show in Bay City, MI:

Let's put something in perspective here to start this off: small town in the thumb area of Michigan, outdoors concert on a hill in front of the stage, a band that you wouldn't normally get to see in your hometown let alone any other "name" band, a gorgeous night to have that rock show and to top it off, spending that with 10,000 fans along with you. That's what happened this past Friday night (6/22) in Bay City, MI for the Poison concert. A sold out show of 10,000 people, the most ever for the 20th Anniversary of the city's "River Roar" on the banks of the Saginaw River. Though I won tickets to the show and heard that Veins of Jenna and Ratt were gonna be there from this fine website, it did turn out to be a pretty good show with a local party/cover band only known as The Special Guest. They did covers of various bands from names like John Mellencamp, two from Journey, R.E.M., just to name a few and didn't do bad on the covers they did. They performed for about 45 minutes to an hour, then came Poison. They kicked off the set with "Look What the Cat Dragged In," following it with "I Want Action" and a shocker to me-"Ride The Wind". I honestly didn't expect that song to be in the list but was happy they played it. After that most of the band jumped off the stage leaving only the keyboard player and C.C. DeVille. After some doodling the two went to the opening notes of Ray Charles' "Georgia on my Mind" but stopped and played "I Hate Every Bone in Your Body But Mine". When they kicked that off Bobby Dall and Ricky Rockett came on to jam it out with Bret Michaels being the only one not on the stage for it. The set featured many hits for them, including "I Won't Forget You," "Unskinny Bop," "Something To Believe In," "Your Mama Don't Dance," "Fallen Angel," "Talk Dirty To Me," and "Every Rose Has Its Thorns." Their set list also included songs off of "Poison'd" like "What I Like About You," "I Wanna Know", and a Marshall Tucker Band song. They did a one song encore of "Nothin' But A Good Time" before reminding the crowd that the show was taped for a VH1 show to be aired on July 15th. It was the first time I've seen Poison, and the first time I've actually been to Bay City, and all I gotta say is that the show rocked and the crowd/people rocked. I can't wait to go to the River Roar next year, no matter who or what they have lined up.
