  • According to Azcentral.com, the music scene surrounding Super Bowl XLII continues to firm up, with several big names confirmed for the 944 Super Bowl Village in Old Town Scottsdale, Arizona. The night of Saturday, February 2, Velvet Revolver are confirmed along with REO Speedwagon among others. During the day, the Village will be home to NFL memorabilia sales, ESPN radio and NFL network broadcasting. Super Bowl XLII will be held on February 3, 2008 at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona.

  • Austin, TX based quartet The Sword has announced a US headlining tour, its first in nearly a year. The scheduled 17 city trek will launch tonight in Shreveport, LA and will see the band perform many of the brand new songs that will comprise the bulk of its new album, due in early 2008 via NYC’s Kemado Records. Support on tour will be provided by Valient Thorr and Black Cobra.

On the topic of the US tour, The Sword has issued the following statement: "We urge the Eastern seaboard and areas lying between there and Austin, TX to take cover, secure provisions and prepare for battle. We come as a scythe taking down all in our path with fail proof deadly riffery. No prisoners." Upcoming live dates can be found here.

  • KNAC.COM's Deb Rao spoke to former Quiet Riot now Dio bass player, Rudy Sarzo to reflect on the legacy of Quiet Riot and to speak candidly about his experiences with Kevin Dubrow who was found dead this past Sunday. Here's an excerpt from Sarzo's comments:

"Kevin had a very, unique style and a very unique sound to his voice. Well the personality, you can sing with the personality but the personality you can't really put on a record because you can't really see that. Of course, it is part of his delivery and a part of his sound but you can't really record that. His larger than life persona became evident during the live performance and interviews. He projected a lot. He was bigger than life. Bottom line is, Kevin had a great rock and roll voice. I would definitely say one of the best to come out of the 80's.

Nobody's trying to re-write history here. We had a tumultuous relationship. But it was never anything that not could have been fixed with a phone call.

  • Dream Theater will be featured as the Xbox LIVE Artist of the Month for the month of December. LIVE members on Xbox 360 will have access to exclusive performance, interview, and behind the scenes footage from Dream Theater's recent tour. Dream Theater will be playing over Xbox LIVE on December 5th in the Game with Fame program. Get onto Xbox LIVE and prepare to play your favorite band. Details at Xbox.com

  • Ozzy and Sharon Osbourne have signed on to host the Brit Awards in London next year (08). The couple have been given the job after event organisers opted not to ask this year's (07) host, Russell Brand, to return. The announcement of the new hosts marks only the third time the Brits have been fronted by male and female co-hosts.
