After a week of speculation and rumors, it appears that Dave Mustaine of Megadeth will address the issue of the band’s guitarist position sometime next week.
The most popular rumor to surface was that Chris Broderick (Nevermore, Jag Panzer) has replaced lead guitarist Glen Drover. The band has yet to confirm the possible departure, but there have been numerous postings on a slew of message boards (including Megadeth’s own official forum, even though the messages are deleted regularly).
As early as November 2007, a posting in the forum section of the band’s official fan club (which is only accessible by members), Mustaine had made the statement "Sadly, Glen is having a really difficult time handling the demands of touring and we are finding that we are having to cut our European run down already, but that it is going to be one of the last long ones for some time." This statement led credibility to the rumor that Drover left the band to focus on family life. However, the rumor could also be the typical “politically correct” statement that often puts up smoke screens.
Either way, stayed tuned for the official announcement.
