"We are Motörhead......." - and with that infamous statement, we are off and running.

The legendary Motörhead hits the Marquee stage with a vengeance. The sold out crowd at the Marquee erupts, and Lemmy smiles. The last time Motörhead was in Arizona was when they opened for the Judas Priest tour. I walked in to the Cricket Pavillion late and the bass chords made my shirt thump from the parking lot as the band ripped in to Overkill.

There was no calming down this Arizona crowd, we have been waiting for years for the return of these legends. With Lemmy's rep for kissing off shows where clubs would not allow the full PA gear, the Marquee was ready to kill.

We Are Motörhead, Stay Clean and The Chase is Better Than the Catch come thundering off the stage, roaring 100 miles an hour at a crowd that was eager for it.

I had one of those moments when I was sitting back and watching the crowd where it dawned on me - this is fucking Motörhead at the Marquee! Yea, I get giddy at times - deal with it!

Get Back in Line, Going To Brazil, Ace of Spades, Killed By Death - the band let you know who was in charge. Flawless perfection came with every song. The band seemed to be having as much fun as the crowd. The band finished the night with as much energy as they started. There may have been sound issues, but frankly - it can never be loud enough.

Clutch did a good job, and I know I'll catch heat for this, but I just don't get them. I felt like I should have been on my third bowl or something. 50,000 Unstoppable Watts and Immortal gave way to loud roars from the crowd, and even Phil from Motörhead came out and played on the Cream cover Politician.

But, Valient Thorr did tear up the opening slot. Unfortunately I am unfamiliar with this band so I don't have a set list. Killer riffs and comical energy ruled their set. They will be back in AZ soon, and I plan on catching that show.

Now what's with this rumor of Motörhead and Foo Fighters this summer?
