One of the names that defines early Death and Doom Metal is a group that has had an extreme influence on many of the modern Extreme Bands out there today. INCANTATION arose as part of the New York Death Metal scene which became a genre of its own, and on a label with a Legacy of great releases and helped pave the way for early Death Metal With its collaboration and compilations known as DEATH ...IS JUST THE BEGINNING, Volume II contained many great bands including INCANTATION.

Now 30 years later they are set to release SECT OF VILE DIVINITIES on August 21st through Relapse Records, and is a landmark album for the band out of New Jersey as it's their 11th release filled with some of the dark, doomy and evil music that only INCANTATION can conjure up. Ahead of its release I had a moment to speak to John McEntee, guitarist and vocalist of the veteran Old School Death Metal group and discuss the topics surrounding the album, their ability to survive all these years, the reach that the world of Death Metal has, and more.
