New York Death Metal is a high standard and well respected genre in the long-standing world of Death Metal. Since 1990, IMMOLATION has stood high on that list of bands who have not only molded the genre but has always stepped outside the box with its style of Death Metal. Avant-garde and abstract, the slithery and dark song-writing has made IMMOLATION a unique band above the world below.

Steve Shalaty came on to take the drum throne in 2003 and made his debut with IMMOLATION on 2005's Harnessing Ruin and fits the mold with his thunderous sound. I had a chance to talk to one of today's great modern sick drummers and we discussed the new album Acts Of God due out February 18 through Century Media Records. Drummer-to-drummer we also got to talk gear and inspirations for his playing style and the advice he gained over the years.
