On April 29, 2022 the husband and wife duo of BONHAM-BULLICK released their 1st ever Blues Rock covers album on Quarto Valley Records. Bonham… where have I heard that name before? Deborah Bonham is the sister of the late and legendary drummer of LED ZEPPELIN, John Bonham, and the aunt of Jason Bonham (THE CIRCLE, BONHAM) of course.
Together with her life and musical partner for the last 30+ years, guitarist Peter Bullick, they’ve shared the stage with such luminaries as Paul Rogers (BAD COMPANY, FREE SPIRIT), FOREIGNER, VAN HALEN, DONOVAN, HUMBLE PIE, ROBERT PLANT and more.
Recently signed to Quarto Valley Records, BONHAM-BULLICK’s self-titled debut is packed with thirteen cover tracks deeply engulfed in classic 70s style Blues and Soul, with the duo’s own stamp put on the songs for good measure. I had the chance to catch up with Deborah Bonham and Peter Bullick ahead of the album’s release.
Highlights include:
-Discussion of the new self-titled album
-Signing with Quarto Valley Music
-Working with the late Mark Lanegan (SCREAMING TREES)
-Their relationship with Paul Rogers
-Bullick’s guitar influences
-Special guests on the album
-Getting back on the road
-Playing with Gerry McAvoy (RORY GALLAGHER)
-Thoughts on Beth Hart’s LED ZEPPELIN covers album
-Expectations in the biz being John Bonham’s sister
-Other projects on the horizon
-Maintaining a band and a marriage
-And much, much more
