Guitarist Jack Starr burst onto the Heavy Metal scene in 1981 with his influential band VIRGIN STEELE. Creative differences led to the legendary guitarist cutting his first solo record Out of The Darkness in 1984 with the late RIOT vocalist Rhett Forrester. Starr was not content playing as a solo act, so he decided to form a band. But what band name could possibly capture the virtuoso’s guitar work?
JACK STARR’S BURNING STARR debuted in 1985 with their album Rock The American Way. Since then, Starr has gone on to release multiple studio and live recordings. BURNING STARR has seen within its ranks such prominent Metal vocalists as Mike Tirelli (HOLY MOTHER) and Todd Michael Hall (RIOT V).
JACK STARR’S BURNING STARR is set to release Souls of The Innocent on July 15, 2022 through Global Rock Records. With this album Starr introduces up-and-coming vocalist Alexx Panza (HITTEN). In addition to the new release, Starr’s new label is re-releasing his back catalog and putting together an Anthology collection. I had the chance to speak with Jack Starr ahead of the album’s release.
