Multi-platinum Progressive rockers STYX released their 17th studio album Crash of The Crown on June 18, 2021, but had to wait almost a year before they could take their new music on the road. STYX are currently on a co-headlining tour with REO SPEEDWAGON and special guest LOVERBOY.

When the Live & UnZoomed Tour makes its way to Mansfield, Massachusetts on August 19th, you can bet your blue collar man dollar that this contributor will be front and center. I had the chance to catch up with STYX keyboardist & co-vocalist Lawrence Gowan during a tour stop in California to find out more about the tour, and all of the new music coming out of the STYX camp as of late.

Highlights include:

-Discussion of their Live & UnZoomed Tour
-Returning to the stage after two years
-Balancing the “hits” with new material
-Adding producer Will Evankovich to the live band
-Sightseeing between shows
-Discussion of Crash of The Crown (2021) album
-Discussion of The Mission (2017) album
-A visit to NASA inspiring the album
-Does STYX plan for more new music?
-Future Gowan solo material
-And much, much more
