SUNSTORM began as a vehicle for ex-RAINBOW and DEEP PURPLE vocalist JOE LYNN TURNER at Frontiers Music in 2006. Turner released five albums under the SUNSTORM banner before departing sometime after the release of 2018’s The Road To Hell. The details of his departure are still a bit cloudy. Alessandro Del Vecchio joined the project in 2016, and with the blessing of Frontiers Music head honcho Serafino Perugino, proceeded to keep the machine running.
Vocalist Ronnie Romero joined the fold in 2021 for the release of Afterlife. Despite the pressure and possible fan backlash, Afterlife delivered on its promise to bring back the memorable sounds of ‘70s and ‘80s AOR/Arena Rock. Brothers In Arms is the 7th studio album by SUNSTORM. It was released on August 5, 2022. I had the chance to speak with songwriter, producer, and musician Alessandro Del Vecchio a few days after the album dropped.
Highlights include:
-Discussion of Brothers In Arms
-Stories behind the singles
-Touring possibilities after 7 studio albums
-Ronnie Romero replacing Joe Lynn Turner on vocals
-Does Del Vecchio have a stake in Frontiers Music?
-Which bands he’s currently touring with
-His latest ‘supergroup’ GINERVA
-Working on the next SWEET/LYNCH album
-Working on the next EDGE OF FOREVER album
-And much, much more!
