ECLIPSE may quite possibly be the greatest Melodic Rock band in the world. You would be hard pressed to find a negative review of their work over the last decade. Their 2021 album Wired received a perfect score from this writer. I concluded my review with:
"What makes a great Rock album? Relatable and easy to follow lyrics, emotional melodies and progressions, killer guitar riffs, easily recallable grooves, and harmonious and impassioned vocals. ECLIPSE delivers all of this on Wired. Each song on the album has its own identity and can be sung along with by the second chorus. ECLIPSE has such a powerful grasp of the Melodic Rock sound, they may need to rename the genre Eclipse Rock."
Now I know I said earlier that ECLIPSE was possibly the greatest in the world in their genre. On that same note, I'm fairly certain that a lot of the world has yet to take notice. If they keep cutting albums like Wired and this year's Megalomanim, then global notoriety will be hard to avoid. By then I hope to have Eclipse Rock ingrained into the lexicon as well.
I had the chance to catch up with vocalist and guitarist Erik Martensson a couple of weeks before the release of Megalomanium. Martensson discusses the new album, the stories behind the singles, their co-headlining tour with H.E.A.T., opening for DEF LEPPARD, MOTLEY CRUE, and the SCORPIONS, the future of his side project NORDIC UNION with RONNIE ATKINS, the next W.E.T. album, and much, much more.
