I'll See You In December: An Interview With ZAC MALOY Of THE NIXONS By George Dionne, Podcaster Friday, February 9, 2024 @ 8:56 AM
THE NIXONS released two more albums, The Nixons (1997) and Latest Thing (2000), before disbanding. The Foma lineup of THE NIXONS reunited in 2017 for a couple of live performances, which eventually led to the band releasing new material every few years thereafter.
In December of 2023, THE NIXONS released an updated version of their 1997 song "December" for the winter holidays. THE NIXONS are currently taking pre-orders for their first full-length double album Live At The Trees, with possible new music on the horizon.
I had the chance to catch up with THE NIXONS frontman Zac Maloy to find out more about the reworking of "December" and their upcoming vinyl live album. Maloy also discusses why they reworked the 1997 song, the importance of Live At the Trees, the 30th anniversary of their indie release Halo which lead to their major release Foma, how Universal Studios Hollywood coaxed them into singing with MCA, opening for KISS at MSG in 1996, what led to the band's break-up in 2000 and reunion in 2017, writing hit songs for SHINEDOWN, CARRIE UNDERWOOD, BLAKE SHELTON, and more at his Nashville studio, their 2022 tour with EVERCLEAR & FASTBALL plus their future plans, and much, much more.
