THE EFFECT have been riding high on the success of their debut singles "Unwanted" and "Something Wrong", released at the tail end of 2023. They say when one door closes, another one opens. For THE EFFECT, if it weren't for a television pilot that never got off the ground, then founders Trev Lukather (guitars) and Nic Collins (drums) would have never have had the opportunity to get the ball rolling.
It wasn't just the music that brought Trev and Nic together, they share a bond in the fact that each grew up as the son of iconic Rock musicians Steve Lukather (TOTO) and Phil Collins (GENESIS). Rounding out THE EFFECT are keyboardist Steve Maggiora and vocalist Emmett Stang.
I had the chance to catch up with Trev Lukather and Nic Collins to find out more about THE EFFECT. Together we discuss the founding of the band, the stories behind the singles, their plans for a full-length album, opening for STEEL PANTHER, future live performances, the influence and support of their musician fathers, how they settled on the band name, where their bass player is, and much, much more.
