Rise: An Exclusive Interview With HOLY MOTHER By George Dionne, Podcaster Tuesday, June 18, 2024 @ 9:30 AM
HOLY MOTHER are back with a new album and a new line-up. The new album is Rise and it is set for release on June 7, 2024 through Massacre Records. It will be the last appearance for drummer James Harris who has been with the group since its self-titled debut in 1995.
The current HOLY MOTHER line-up features founder and vocalist Mike Tirelli, up-and-coming guitarist Mickey Lyxx, former Robin Gibb (BEE GEES) bassist Wayne Banks, and 17 year old drummer Steve MacQueen.
I had the chance to catch up with Mike Tirelli and Mickey Lyxx to find out more about HOLY MOTHER's latest album Rise, how Lyxx got the gig, the pressures to get the album finished on time, whether Mickey got in on the songwriting, James Harris' departure, the stories behind the singles, reimagining "Live To Die", remembering founding bassist Randy Coven, opening for ZEBRA close to home, and their sold out gigs with DORO in Germany.
They also discuss Mike's appearance at the 2024 Metal Hall of Fame, performing DIO-era BLACK SABBATH in front of Wendy Dio, whether Tirelli's other band MESSIAH'S KISS is still active, THE MICKEY LYXX BAND, working with Jill Gioia (Rockstar Supernova finalist), wedding band side gigs, Tirelli's auditions for DREAM THEATER and FATES WARNING (??) back in the day, plotting the next HOLY MOTHER album, re-releasing their back catalog, and much, much more.
