The Morrison Project is the third solo album by longtime BILLY IDOL rhythm guitarist BILLY MORRISON. It was released on April 19, 2024 through TLG/Virgin Music Group. The 12 track album is layered with different musical styles and genres, or as Morrison puts it 'sonic tapestries'.
The Morrison Project gets by with a little help from Billy's friends including Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol, Steve Stevens, John 5, Steve Vai, Linda Perry, Al Jorgensen (MINSTRY), Darryl McDaniels (RUN DMC), Tommy Clufetos (BLACK SABBATH), Erik Eldenius (BILLY IDOL), Jeordie White (GOON MOON), Corey Taylor (SLIPKNOT), and more.
The album's second single "Crack Cocaine" has been doing quite well for Morrison, climbing steadily up the rock charts. It features Ozzy Osbourne on vocals and Steve Stevens on guitar. The cinematic music video features Paris Jackson, and cameos by visual artist Risk and actor Jeff Hilliard.
I had the chance to catch up with BILLY MORRISON to find out more about The Morrison Project, writing with Eldenius & White, crafting the music to fit the guest musicians, his longtime relationship with OZZY, the stories behind the singles, casting Paris Jackson & Joe Manganiello in his music videos, working with Darryl (DMC) McDaniels, and getting BILLY IDOL on the album last minute.
Morrison also discusses Linda Perry's rare appearance, his GRAMMY chances, hitting the road with Idol & Stevens, chances of Morrison performing his solo material live, his love of fine art, his SiriusXM satellite radio program "Influenced", new Billy Idol music in the works, and much, much more.
