Children of Bodom - Chaos Ridden Years Stockholm Knockout Live By CrpnDeth, Staff Photographer/Writer Sunday, November 5, 2006 @ 3:00 PM
Hitting the stores just in time for Christmas is the highly anticipated DVD/CD release of Chaos Ridden Years - Stockholm Knockout Live. Originally scheduled to be released in October of this year, the US release of the DVD was pushed back to December 5, 2006. This brutal assault was filmed in February at the Arenan in Stockholm and displays the boys tightly wrapped in their element. Full stage, full lights - full roar! The band has never sounded better, and their joyous possession of the crowd's attention was all caught on film. Everything from the searing guitar riffs to ...well...using the fire props to heat up some sausage. What can you say - when Alexi is hungry he eats! However, this night he tossed the sausage out in to crowd ala WASP. "But", he tells the crowd, "we at least cook it first".
Riddled throughout the pounding metal performance is the band's personalities. When they are not messing with each other, or messing with the crowd, they grin ear to ear as they see the crowd go nuts song after song. One particular segment starts off with Alexi and keyboardist Janne Warman trading solos back and forth and ending it with, uh, the opening "riffs" of Oops I Did It Again (which they did a full cover of on the In Your Face EP).
Throughout all the fun they have on stage, one thing is repeatedly mentioned - their appreciation of the fans.
This is definitely going to be one of the only DVD releases this year that is truly deserving a spot in your collection. With over 90 minutes of pure brutality, the concert setlist is:
In addition, the DVD will contain every official COB video ever made, such as:
Downfall
Finally, this super packed DVD will include a documentary film about the bands past, present and future directed by Yka Jarvinen (Indie Films OY), a making of the DVD and a photo gallery.
The band will also be touring in support of the new release through the end of December with Amon Amarth, Sanctity and Goijra - one final time through the US before the band takes a holiday break and begins writing for thier new CD, which they are hoping to get out by fall 2007. Not to mention, next year will be the 10th anniversary for CoB.
