"Bored" came out of a writing session while Graham and I were looking for some privacy off-tour in Los Angeles. We started jamming in a secluded underpass behind a friend's house; great acoustics but surrounded by needles and trash. The song began as a meditation on boredom and apathy, but developed into an anthem about taking risks and grabbing life by the reins, inspired by some drastic life changes. We love that "Bored" pushes against what people expect from RTD, and feel it is the perfect segue into our EP, Speak Like the Dead."
"Bored" follows the infectious single "Shine" - the first song to come off Speak Like The Dead. The band-Matty Bielawski [guitar, vocals], Graham Stanush [bass, vocals], Sebastian Gonzalez [guitar], and London Hudson [drums]-recorded both "Bored" and "Shine" with frequent collaborator and producer Jim Kaufman out of his L.A. studio.
2024 saw the band unveil their independent self-titled full-length debut, Return To Dust, including standout single "Belly Up" which rose through the Active Rock chart and was praised by Distorted Sound as "a grungy, punky thrill ride," while Revolver applauded the group's "ALICE IN CHAINS-inspired form of modern-day grunge."
RETURN TO DUST are currently on tour with Billy Corgan and The Machines of God. In August they will tour alongside Breaking Benjamin and Three Days Grace with festival performances at Louder Than Life, Aftershock and more.
