Arguably, the UK is considered to be the birthplace of metal’s best bands, from every subgenre. But only in the last few years has thrash metal made a real showing from the hallowed region. Evile and Sylosis are two heavies in UK’s emerging thrash scene that have gained recognition and respect abroad. Conclusion of an Age is the third release for Sylosis, and sonically affirms how worthy the band is to carry metal’s esteemed torch. The obvious draw to the band is its dueling guitar assault and tachycardic drum work. The grim, harmonic intro of “Swallow the World” pays homage to Metallican forefathers Hammett and Hetfield before the five razor-pissing motherhumpers lash out yet another sonic scourging. Sylosis has it all nailed down on this excellent 12-track offering—sure to be a favorite for those who thrive on thrashiosity.
