At The Palladium On March 4th

Today was one of the warmest days in Massachusetts we’ve had in a while. The perfect day to venture into one of our other major cities. My journey started with a cheap train ticket into Worcester, Massachusetts. Tonight’s event is DARK DIVINE’s first full headlining U.S tour. Even better, it’s the first tour date on their “Shallow Graves Tour”. This tour features the widely known band, NOT ENOUGH SPACE, along with, BAILEY SPINN, and SET FOR TOMORROW. Worcester’s Palladium is known for their alternative shows, and has several different concert spaces. This show would be held in their upstairs venue, allowing for a smaller, more intimate show.
SET FOR TOMORROW had such a different energy than I expected. I’ve never heard of them before tonight, and dang I was blown away. The metal band consists of four members, and is based out of Richmond, VA. Being in the actual crowd, rather than the photo pit posed as a challenge, but also allowed for me to have a new experience. Vocalist Eyker Cruz, came with an intensity I can only compare to hardcore shows. Behind me a mosh pit opens up, started by a guy I had spoken to earlier. One hand clutched my gear while I used the other to shield myself. I found myself easily getting hyped up, and ready to go all night. Eyker is a ball of fiery energy, and you could see that it affects every single person in the room. The air smelt of beer and sweat as the pit behind me settled down.

Everyone took their time in between sets to catch their breath. Most people didn’t know what to expect from BAILEY SPINN. Personally, I was not familiar with her music. I, along with most of her crowd, know Bailey from her stardom on Tik Tok. Due to this, I expected the crowd to be a younger audience. For the most part, I was correct. The room was full of lively people, some fans regulars of the venue, others new to the scene. Bailey came out strong with songs I’ve never heard before. I listened as she was able to hit high notes effortlessly. Her set was interesting, it was a different vibe than the rest of the lineup which balanced out the atmosphere. Bailey is an eye catcher, she had and maintained my gaze through the entirety of her set.
BAILEY SPINN setlist:
“Homicide”
“Runner up”
“Im so sick”
“Front Row Psycho”
“critical”
“Happy Ending”

NOT ENOUGH SPACE is a band I’ve photographed before. I was excited for this time to be in a much smaller venue. The previous sets already felt incredibly immersive. While we waited the venue played hit songs, including music from My Chemical Romance and *NSYNC. I watched as the clock changed to 8:24pm, and the lights abruptly darkened.

The band’s current lineup is made up of two female vocalists, Lizzie Kristina (Raatma), and Liv Mitchell. Their guitarist is Tristan Green, while bass is provided by Jacob Sawyer. Lastly, they have Maurice (Reece) Jones on drums. Although this was my second time seeing them, I felt more mesmerized. The contrast between clean and harsh vocals is a big part of the band’s appeal. NOT ENOUGH SPACE added to the hardcore ambience, leaving the fans wanting more. Many of the fans in the crowd had come specifically to see them play, and they absolutely lived up to the hype. I was crushed as the pit opened and people began to fly. I did what I could, but without a barricade there was nowhere for them to go.
NOT ENOUGH SPACE setlist:
“Weaponize Your Rage”
“Solace In Silence”
“Devil Left Me On Read”
“Dont Let Go”
“Nightmares”
“Dont Be Scared”
“Kill Eat Repeat”
“Eye 4 an Eye”
“No Way Out”
“Primitive”

This was my second DARK DIVINE show. I had seen them previously when they opened for BLACK VEIL BRIDES. After that show I managed to speak to vocalist Anthony Martinez. He left me with an amazing first impression. Anthony is insanely humble, and great to talk to. The band dropped their first single in October of 2021, quickly making a name for themselves. It almost felt like more people had made their way into the venue, and were pushing forward. At this point I had almost no space to maneuver my camera. Fortunately, it was the time we had all been waiting for. The house music faded out and was replaced by loud bass. The screams grew loud as each member stepped onto the stage. DARK DIVINE contains guitar from Robby Lynch, and bass from Cory Piscitelli. They have Triston Blaize as their drummer, while Anthony Martinez provides vocals.
For once I didn’t feel an insane amount of pressure while taking photos. I felt like I was fully present and a part of this show. Anthony’s stage presence is like no other. If you’re ever looking for a band with major energy, still playing tiny venues, DARK DIVINE is the one. I watched in awe as bodies moved and people sang. I couldn’t help myself from singing when my recent obsession, “Better Start Digging” came on. At the same time I was being absolutely annihilated by crowd surfers, paired with people jumping off the stage. They played hits such as “Midnight Masquerade”, and “Burn the Witch”. Honestly their entire setlist was full of banger after banger.

“Paper Crown”
“Hive Mind”

The night finished off strong, as we were warned there was no secret encore. The majority of the crowd flooded out, attempting to beat that post-concert traffic. I still had a goal in mind. I made my way to the back of the venue where a long line had accumulated. With my ride waiting outside, I stood at the back of the line. I spent this time thinking about what to say. Nerves crept in as I finally made it to the front.
“I blanked on what I wanted to say.” was my conversation starter. From there I told him I admired how humble he was and we had a great talk about how insane the amount of surfers tonight was. All in all, I left the Palladium happy and excited to go through my photos. I would one-hundred percent recommend catching this tour if you have a chance.
