STATIC-X
‘Wisconsin Death Trip’ 25th Anniversary Corrosive Edition
Otsego Entertainment Group 2026

Originally released in March of 1999, ‘Wisconsin Death Trip’ was the debut album that put Los Angeles Nu-Metal act STATIC-X on the map. Within 2 years it had reached platinum status on the strength of hit singles “Push It”, which was in heavy rotation on KNAC.COM, and “I’m With Stupid” and “Bled For Days”. The band would go on to release 5 more studio albums before frontman Wayne Static’s untimely passing in 2014, each one advancing the band’s signature ‘evil disco’ industrial metal sound.

The original group sans Wayne regrouped and have released 2 more albums since that time, ‘Project: Regeneration Vol. 1’ (2020) and ‘Project: Regeneration Vol. 2’ (2024), featuring some of Wayne’s vocals and those of DOPE frontman Edsel Dope. The band has toured frequently since that time with a mysterious, ‘unknown’ vocalist known only as Xero.

2024 marked the 25th anniversary of the legendary debut album and the band through Otsego Entertainment Group decided to commemorate that release with a special ‘Corrosive Edition’ box set in both vinyl and CD formats. KNAC.COM was fortunate enough to receive a vinyl copy of the box set to review and unbox for you. You can check out the unboxing video BELOW.

The box contains two orange and black colored vinyl records. The first is a remaster of the album by the original producer Ulrich Wild. The sound on this album is much cleaner and crisper and sounds really great on a nice turntable. The second album is a collection of demos of most of the songs, unedited versions of some including the album’s title track, and rare tracks. It’s really interesting to hear tracks like “Push It”, “I’m With Stupid” and “Bled For Days” in their demo form and hearing how the songs changed before their final inclusion on the album’s release.

Next up is a mock copy of the Otsego Tribune newspaper with several news articles, a full page spread of the 25th anniversary of the album, some photos of the band and the album lyrics.

There’s also a set of 12 large double-sided photos never before seen of the band taken during the album’s recording sessions, including one of each member of the band signed, except of course Wayne’s which has a reprint of his autograph.

A sheet of STATIC-X stickers follows with one of the album cover, one of the band’s name logo and two of the logo graphic.

And lastly, snuggled nicely into a foam insert are a dog tag which I assume is random as to which one you get in your set. Ours contained a dog tag for Koichi Fukuda, a hospital armband for him and a prescription pill bottle with photo on it and containing two ‘pills’ which appear to be the Mike & Ike colored candies (remember those? lol). This is where you will find my only criticism of this box set. Considering that Wayne died of a pill overdose I found the pill bottle to be just a tad disrespectful to his memory although I’m sure the band got his family’s blessing for this set.

The ‘Wisconsin Death Trip 25th Anniversary Corrosive Edition’ Box Set was a great way to memorialize not only the album that broke the band onto the scene but also the visionary behind it and the band itself, Wayne Static. Priced at $139 and available on the STATIC-X website, this is a must-have for anyone who is a fan of the band and this album in particular.
