Guitarist Steve Smyth Leaves Testament, Joins Nevermore By Sefany Jones, Contributing Editor Friday, April 30, 2004 @ 11:37 AM
Nevermore is proud to announce that guitarist Steve Smyth (ex-Testament/ Dragonlord) has officially been added to the band's lineup. The band's latest release, Enemies of Reality (2003) was recorded by original members: Warrel Dane (vocals), Jeff Loomis (guitars), Jim Sheppard (bass), and Van Williams (drums). Nevermore utilized Smyth's services during the band's 2003 European and American tours in support of Dimmu Borgir. Additionally, in 2002 Smyth performed with Nevermore at Germany's Bang Your Head Festival. Warrel Dane spoke up about Smyth's addition: "After touring since 1995 with a number of different guitarists in the second slot, we are happy to announce that we have added Steve Smyth on a permanent basis; the revolving door has been retired! After touring awhile with Steve, it became obvious to us that he was the missing link in our dysfunctional brotherhood! So now we approach the future officially as a five-piece band!" When asked about joining the band Smyth said, "I'm happy to take up the challenge of playing with these guys. I've always loved the music, and we get along well as musicians and friends. I really look forward to contributing on a creative level, and everything so far just feels really positive." Nevermore, who recently re-signed with Century Media Records, have two European 2004 summer festivals appearances scheduled: June 5 Italy's Gods of Metal and August 5-7 Germany's Wacken Open Air. The band, including Smyth, have also completed work on the video for "I, Voyager" from Enemies of Reality.
