Originally, I was going to do my usual live concert review. In light of recent events, I think we’ll just let the photos do the talking…

KNAC.COM photographer Gnarly Charlie Steffens was on hand to snap the band ravaging metal madness on a throng of thrashing fans in Hollywood, CA. As we spoke tonight about the incident in Columbus, OH, which has taken the life of one of metal’s ultimate, most-respected guitarists, he wrote to me in remembrance of the show:

“I'll never forget that night during the first 3 songs when I was playing Mr. Photographer - I think Darrell was getting pissed at me because I was popping so much flash when taking photos. So he steps up to the edge of the stage while shredding and just misses my head with his guitar neck. It swooshed over my head, just missing me as my hair flew up. Then he laughs and winks at me.
