A New Hit Of ACID: An Exclusive Interview With CARLA HARVEY Of LORDS OF ACID

“I Almost Walked Away” – Carla Harvey

Few voices in industrial and extreme music carry the kind of range CARLA HARVEY brings to the stage. Best known as co-vocalist of the modern metal band BUTCHER BABIES, HARVEY has built a career on defying easy labels — mortician, author, comic book creator, and now, the newest voice of electronic/industrial provocateurs LORDS OF ACID.

HARVEY joined LORDS OF ACID in 2023, stepping into a legacy act known for pushing boundaries since the late ’80s with their unapologetic mix of acid house, techno, and industrial sleaze. For longtime fans, the pairing made immediate sense: HARVEY’S commanding presence, theatrical flair, and fearless approach to taboo subjects align perfectly with the band’s ethos of pleasure, chaos, and catharsis on the dance floor. On stage, she channels both menace and mischief, delivering classics like “I Sit on Acid” and “Pussy” with a fresh ferocity while helping shape the band’s next chapter.

Offstage, Harvey’s résumé reads like several careers in one. She holds a master’s degree in mortuary science and worked as a licensed funeral director and embalmer — experience that informs her 2024 debut novel Death and Other Dances. She’s also a former television host, model, and co-founder of BUTCHER BABIES. KNAC.COM caught up with CARLA to talk about inheriting a 35-year legacy, writing new music with PRAGA KHAN, life on the road, being the new ACID QUEEN, the upcoming Cheeky Freaky Tour and a quick update on her band THE VIOLENT HOUR.
