2015 Independent Release

Canadian guitarist MIKE MILAN DEDIC released an independent instrumental EP in 2015 that features five tracks of shredding guitar rock.

First song “Energy” gets right to the point and features a consistent theme riff throughout. The song is a little plodding and I find myself wishing it was a little faster; still, a decent track with a blistering solo in the middle. “Zoom” follows with a reserved, clean guitar intro which eventually breaks into a boisterous rocker. This track has an early KISS quality to some of the riffs. “Run!” seems to have some THIN LIZZY influence in the main riff, which is a good thing. The solos are memorable and have some distinct character to them. “Launch” is an excellent track, probably my favorite song here, and again reminds me of THIN LIZZY in parts. The rhythm guitar and the lengthy solo on this track shows real dexterity and genuine feel. Final song “Shall We Dance?” is a mid-tempo track with some reserved guitar work and reveals some bass work as well.

Overall, I like the flavor of this EP. There is a real passion on display without question. However, in this day and age the production should be better and the drum machine would need to be replaced with a real drummer to get my hard earned cash. In the end, this EP exposes Mike as a definite talent on guitar. I am hoping he takes it to the next level from here onward, with heavier and faster material.

This self-titled EP features five tracks at around 19 minutes. I think fans of instrumental/shred guitar will enjoy hearing MIKE MILAN DEDIC’S work; it shows a real flair for quality songwriting and in an era of overdone, over the top songs.
