POW! Right In The Kisser

Phil X (Theofilos Xenidis), the renowned guitarist from BON JOVI, is not just a rock star. His versatility as a session player has seen him collaborate with a diverse range of artists, from Kelly Clarkson to Rob Zombie, showcasing his adaptability and musical prowess.
His band, PHIL X & THE DRILLS, has released four albums since 2009. The latest release is Pow! Right In The Kisser. Like previous albums, this includes famous drummer guest spots: Tommy Lee, Tico Torres, Ray Luzier, and others.
Phil's latest album, a culmination of a decade's worth of work, is finally here. His words, "I just kept writing and we'd record and then kept the whole different drummer on every song thing going. It became a very special collection of songs and vibes. It's exciting for me to share something like that with the world," echoes the anticipation and excitement surrounding this long-awaited release.
The opener, "Don't Wake Up Dead", gives a spontaneity of guitar and vocals straight to the point. "Find A Way" and "Moving to California" sound like a few buddies getting together and jamming. Phil has a great voice and plays guitar like a madman. My favorite off the new album is "You Sunk My Battleship". It had the most assertive riffs on the album, with some heavy choruses and vocals.
I know Phil uses some humor in his writing, and I looked at the title, "I Love You On Her Lips", in a few different ways. It's all in the phrasing and commas, man. It's a pretty ripping song. Most of the album doesn't take itself too seriously. I think that's part of the magic of PHIL X & THE DRILLS. They bring the fun back into music.
