LYNCH MOB recently played Hollywood's Whisky a Go Go, a stop on the band's Final Ride Tour, and it was a 90-minute rock show that will long be remembered by the people who came out to see them. The hard rock band which was formed by ex-DOKKEN guitarist George Lynch in 1990, had announced last year that the Final Ride would in fact be its farewell tour.

The current lineup showcases the same musicians featured on Babylon, LYNCH MOB's eighth studio album (2023) with Lynch on guitar, Gabriel Colon (vocals), Jaren Gulino (bass), and Jimmy D'Anda (drums).

Along with LYNCH MOB favorites and "Time After Time" from Babylon, the set list included five DOKKEN songs-and Colon sang them with power and conviction. It's obvious that comparisons will be made between Colon, Don Dokken, and previous LYNCH MOB vocalists (most notably Oni Logan) but Colon's vocal ability did not disappoint.

The band hit the stage at 10:45 pm and opened the show with "Lightnin' Strikes Again" from DOKKEN's Under Lock and Key album (1985) followed by "River of Love", from LYNCH MOB's 1990 debut Wicked Sensation, which drew loud approval from the crowd.

It was apparent that this iteration of LYNCH MOB enjoy playing together, arguably as musically-cohesive as any of the previous lineups. The litmus test is always how to audience responds, and with just a few hundred people, it was easy to see how much they were enjoying it. Lynch played the solos, just as he had once played with his former DOKKEN bandmates in huge arenas dating back to the Reagan Years, a lavish era for head-banging bands. Some 40 years later, here was Lynch, an elder statesman, highly-regarded by critics and peers as being one of the greatest guitarists to ever play the instrument.

Notably, Lynch set aside his ESP Signature Series Desert Eagle axe to play "Mr. Scary" on a vintage 1958 Gibson Les Paul Junior Double Cutaway. There was no shortage of Lynch's amazing guitar solos, and his bandmates' skills were not overshadowed; each had their spotlight moments. The bruising rhythm duo of Gulino and D'Anda gave Lynch the bottom to punch his guitar parts. The camaraderie between Lynch, Colon, Gulino, and D'Anda cannot be understated. The ball-busting and laughter they shared between songs was fun to watch.
