Guitarist Herman Frank and vocalist David Reece are both alumni of Germany Heavy Metal heavyweights ACCEPT. Herman Frank served two tours with the group from 1982-1984, and again from 2009-2014.
Frank went on to form VICTORY after his first departure, and they are still active today. After his second departure he decided to release his first of five solo albums. Find out more about the latest release by VICTORYHERE.
David Reece replaced departed vocalist Udo Dirkschneider for ACCEPT’s 1989 release Eat The Heat. Reece departed ACCEPT not long after he arrived, and formed BANGALORE CHOIR in the wake.
I can’t go on without mentioning that Eat The Heat was a great album, and likely struggled because “it didn’t sound like ACCEPT”. Under any other band name, this may have become a classic Metal record. Also, the debut album by BANGALORE CHOIR, On Target, is a Hard Rock gem.
Reece has been a part of numerous bands and projects over the years, on top of which he’s released several solo albums. His last solo album, Blacklist Utopia, was released in 2021. IRON ALLIES brings together the ACCEPT alumni for the first time, but hopefully not the last. Their debut album Blood In Blood Out is a full on Heavy Metal assault loaded with riffs and bombastic vocals.
I had the chance to catch up with vocalist David Reece prior to the album’s release.
