For over 30 years, the veterans of Death Doom from California's bay area making it known that the area isn't only just known for it's Thrash but 1 of the homes where Death Metal originated.

The heart of AUTOPSY in that of Chris Reifert, not only as Drummer but also the voice of the band has helped pioneer an era, ushering in Death Metal since his start with Chuck Shuldiner and DEATH on their debut album Scream Bloody Gore. Fast forward to today and AUTOPSY is set to release their 9th album Ashes, Organs, Blood And Crypts on October 27th through the label who helped build their legacy, Peaceville Records. Along with the art by long time collaborator Wes Benscoter (BLOODBATH/SLAYER), his GORE'ifying contribution is an extension of AUTOPSY's sound and really captured the essence of Ashes, Organs, Blood And Crypts.

I had the pleasure of chatting with founder and SickDrummer Chris Refiert about the new album, the art, the writing process, a bit of shop talk about his vintage drumkit, Bassist Greg Wilkinson's contribution in engineering that new album - and much more.
